How do you write a cover letter for a fashion editor?

I would like to become a fashion editor, she (or he) creates themes for stories to be shot by a photographer – showing off the best clothing currently available in local stores. A fashion editor develops relationships with photographers, with stylists and local designers. Attending retail events, meeting with visiting designers and constant forays into the specialty and vintage boutiques, mass merchandisers, and department stores keeps you abreast of what is selling.
Ok so I am doing a school assignment, how would I write a cover letter for a fashion editor position? Any suggestions will be helpful.

ok im in the 8thgrade now and next year ill be in high school.
when i get into college i would like to study fashion design to become a fashion stylist. after my 4 years of college i would like to do an intership for a magazine as an intership(duh) being a fashion stylist and as i work there more i could move to a higher position. im i in the right path for being a fashion stylist.

u seem to be ambitious and thats great. however u shudnt wait until college. in high school, take sewing or fashion or any other type of elective. talk to ur guidance counselor about setting up appointments and/or field trips with other designers to talk to you about their job. and in the summer, look around for some type of fashion camp. and make sure to watch project runway

Could I switch my career from graphic design to fashion stylist?

I been studying graphic design for about 1 year and a half now I graduate in one more year with an associates degree form graphic design. I like graphic design but i love fashion not designing it but help people to shop and dress up to make them feel good and i love it.I have met people and took them shopping just by the way i dress i have people willing to pay me to go shopping with them and have me pick out an outfit for them. so i think im good for it . The problem is i dont know where to start going to school for this or if i could combine both careers

if you have good taste and you know what you love you can combine anything. design yourself an amazing business card and start talking to everyone you know. i dont think this is so much a career to go to school for, though, any and all education in the arts is beneficial. i would suggest finding someone who does what you love, then ask if you may intern with them for a year. that means to work for free or for very little. in exchange, you learn, learn learn.

If you really want to set yourself apart, you should choose a major like Psychology, with a minor in a traditional style-related subject like Fashion, Design, Beauty, Creative Arts, etc.

There are so many wannabe stylists out there who go to traditional "beauty school" and major in traditional fashion and beauty subjects, but I think Psychology would be a unique and actually useful major for someone with your aspirations.

If you do well in school (good grades, strong connections, networking, etc) you can sell yourself not only as a style expert but also as someone who has a deep understanding of your clients' personalities, allowing you to better customize your work to their individual needs. In the end, it's all about how you are able to market yourself!

I have no professional experience though, is that bad?

i'm freaking out.
i also took fashion design one year but got a c one semester and a f the second

i took a 3d art class one semester and got a c

and did one semester of art in independent studies and got an A

i messed up in high school i know

the savannah college of design.
theres one in chicago and one in atlanta.
theres a bunch more but those are the only
ones i know cuz my cousins went to them.
they are great schools, it just depends how much
you want to pay and what environment you like.

it shouldnt matter that you have little proffessional experience.
most colleges only look at if you took art and business classes in highschool.

so my dream is to become a successful fashion designer/ stylist, something in that family………well um what schools are the best for fashion and where did the most famous designers go to school?

well, Parson's School of Design in NYC is supposed to be the top design (for fashion) in the US. It's very competitive, so gather up a good portfolio and some original designs (also famous from Project Runway)

Also FIDM in California is a top school as well for Fashion and Merchandising. Its the same school the girls from the Hills attended.

I’m going to school now for photography, but I’m starting to think I wouldn’t want it as a career. I love fashion, and am obsessed with Polyvore.

I'm going to Parsons right now, but would have to apply separatly to study fashion. A lot of schools have fashion design as a major, but I was wondering if their is a specific program, possible 2 year or just less than 4, that is for being a stylist. I also want to stay in NYC, and IDK if I want to stay at Parsons b/c it's so expensive.

right, go to collage and study fashion, you have got to know the ins&outs of fashion and im sure by looking at them photos you wahts in and out and what to wear. just ask around and find out wheres the best collage to studie fashion and when you find out try and get a place. try really ho0pe and you will make something of yourself as you are really good! good luck:) x

I'm 16 years old, grade 11. (female).
I LOVE fashion, and I'm thinking about going to school for it (stylist in particular).
Wondering…..
-Is it a good choice? I have the marks to go to University and become a math teacher (my other interest), but I'm afraid that I'll regret it later on…
-Are there enough jobs out there that are well paying?
-What are some good post-secondary schools? (Ontario, Canada if possible)?

i am in the exact same situation (i love fashion, but also want to pursue another career – law)
-i think that you can take summer courses colleges offered to high school students so they can experience wat its all about…maybe that what you should do, one for fashion and one for math
-the most prestigious schools for fashion are in california and new york
-since i want to go to ny, i've only reserchwed there
-my narrowed choices are the Fashion Institute of Technology, Parson's (new?) School of Design, and the Art Institute
-some fashion schools get you an internship, so you have a job after you graduate, and whther you make it big depends on you
