Im in High school interested in fashion design, what should I do? what colleges?

Im interested in studying fashion for a career, im already a junior in high school and my school does not offer any fashion classes or sewing classes, I am in AP Art and Im really good at art. What are some things that I can do to help me get into a good college for fashion, and second of all, what are some good colleges that offer fashion studies, I live in the East coast and would prefer to stay in the east.

One recommendation I would make is to go to a school that offers more than just a fashion design program. Going to a well-rounded school gives you a chance to sample other classes that you might be interested in. Also, if you decide that fashion isn't for you, then you would be able to stay at the school and major in something else instead of transferring and starting over.

What makeup school has the best reputation in the high fashion industry in southern California?

I want to be a makeup artist for the high fashion industry and was thinking of attending MUD in Burbank or MKC Academy in L.A. but don’t know which one is better or if there is a better school in southern California.

I’m more familiar with MUD in Burbank than MKC, and plus MUD has a wider variety of makeup styles. Not only fashion and beauty makeup, but special effects makeup. Plus it looks like it’s a little cheaper. Good luck!

At my high school the girls love to wear American Appearl Sweatshirts, Chanel earrings, burberry scarfs, and uggs, and designer jeans.
Yeah i know very materialistic!
But i curious about the fashion at you school and what is like?

I'm doing a spring fashion show for my high school in 2008 and all the proceeds are going towards the Canadian Cancer society. What are some springish type fashionable songs that I could use? Current music and oldies accepted.

you should study fashion at a university. it depends which one has the best programs. look into good art schools, and FIT, and URhode Island among others.

In high school, generally just get good grades, but try to take a lot of visual arts classes and get good grades, and try to have your extra cirriculars be in the art field. internships? just take what you can get. its all about networking. try to work at a magazine in their fashion department, or for a designer (even if its a small scale town designer). just show experience and passion in the field. my friend got into FIT and she wasn't a stellar student but took fashion design classes at my high school, and had it consume her life. she made her own prom dress and put the photos of it in her portfolio, and made all teh clothes for our towns "fashion show" etc.

I have a school uniform so if you have a trend that I can wear with my uniform (don't ask how my uniform looks just say something) I will give you 10 PTS!

What does a high school fashion club do?

I go to a high school that has basically every club BUT a fashion club. So I’m beginning to wonder why..and now I do think I know why. Only 5 people actually KNOW how to work a sewing machine, and less know how to make clothing. So if i were to make one, what would we do? A lot of people do have interests in fashion but i dont think in making pieces of clothing. I really want it to be fun and also provide some kind of service to the community. IF ANYONE has ANY ideas or any past experience with their fashion club in their high school, please help me answer this question, and tell me what did you guys do as a club.

Ok well I am secretary of my college fashion club and we host an annual fashion show in the spring, but if you are not working with that kind of budget to hire designers and/or get the equipment to host a show. We also do how to editorials in which we show an audience how to apply make up and we are hosting an event in which we show proper interview from what not to wear to how you are to sell yourself for the job. You can talk to the newspaper (if your school has one) and see about getting a fashion section, you can rant about the uniform or how people dress in general, you can have a commentary where you let your readers ask beauty questions. Those are just some ideas.
